Why Choose Us?

All art works, workshops, and classes are made & presented by artists

My experience at Scratch art space was my first experience with art/drawing live and I absolutely enjoyed it. The environment was very professional and I learned a lot about drawing that I did not know before. The atmosphere was very nice and it easily exceeded expectations. I would recommend Scratch Art Space to anyone.

About Us

Carmel Byrne

Founder

I initially founded Scratch Art Space in 2004 as a way of providing studio spaces for artists in a stable & affordable environment.  Since then Scratch has expanded organically to include an Art Gallery for graduate fine art students, and more recently we opened an Atelier education space where we run creative workshops & art classes primarily for adults.

As an artist I clearly see the benefits that creative pursuits & activities hold for adults that yearn for something creative, or to simply do something with their hands.  The thinking hands we call it and it's a mindful practise that I emphasise in my workshops.

The wonderful feedback & support I've received so far fuels my mission to reconnect adults with creativity, and I'm slowly pulling together a group of like-minded artists & facilitators to run workshops & classes at Scratch.

What's unusual about this creative business is that I'm an artist learning to run a business as opposed to a business woman aspiring to be an artist.

Location

We're located at 67 Sydenham Road, Marrickville, where you can see art works for sale, and where we run the creative workshops & classes.
